I can’t imagine my partner asking me a question he deemed important to him and going it’s none of your business. Where is the intimacy in that? Maybe I wouldn’t volunteer but I wouldn’t slam the door in someones face who is trying to figure me out. I know that would certainly piss me off if the roles were reversed. Sometimes we spill our secrets and go through discomfort because it’s important to someone besides ourselves.

I think a “don’t-ask-don’t-tell” policy is best as regards a person’s past, sexual or otherwise.
